More About Tuukka Rask
One of the best young goaltenders in the game today, Tuukka Rask is living up to the hype that surrounded him as a goalie in Finland and prompted the Toronto Maple Leafs to select them in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Though he is currently pulling back-up duty on the Boston Bruins, playing behind the red hot Tim Thomas, Rask proved during the 2009-10 season that he is capable of handling the load as the number keeper on the team. Rask played in 45 games that season, posting a 22-12-5 record and a sparkling 1.97 GAA. He made such an impression that he earned the starting job in the post-season as well, a rare accomplishment for a young goalie. He led the Bruins all the way to game 7 of the quarter-finals before his Bruins were eliminated by the eventual Stanley Cup finalist Philadelphia Flyers.
With Tim Thomas in the twilight of his career Tuukka Rask is clearly the future for the Boston Bruins. Look for this Finnish phenom to become a bona fide NHL star in years to come.
