Though they have only been around since the 1979-80 season the Edmonton Oilers have won more Stanley Cups than any other non-Original Six NHL club. 5 times Oilers fans have seen their team hoist Lord Stanley’s ultimate prize, and twice more they’ve seen them make the finals. With this tradition of excellence it is little wonder they call Edmonton “The City of Champions”. There have been no shortage of great Oilers players over the years including Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, and Ryan Smyth. Though today’s club doesn’t boast that level of legendary talent with young stars like Ales Hemsky, Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano the Oilers have the potential to again be a Stanley Cup threat down the road.
