More About Kris Letang
The offensive talents of Kris Letang were readily apparent early on in his career. He was a master of the shootout, and when used on the powerplay he was an effective force, jumping off the point and converting passes from slick passing teammate, Sidney Crosby. However, for the first few years of NHL hockey he lived in the shadow of Sergei Gonchar. Now that Gonchar has moved on to join the Ottawa Senators Letang is finally getting the chance to show just how good he is offensively.
Now that he is the team’s number one threat from the back end Letang is averaging nearly a point a game, leaps and bounds above the .37 points-per-game average he had during the previous season. The Penguins are no doubt thrilled about the coming out party of their young star blueliner. At only 23 years of age he is only going to improve. Already a fan favorite, you can expect to see many Pens’ fans sporting a Kris Letang jersey at this year’s NHL Winter Classic game.
