Edmonton Oilers Snapback Hats
Though fans of the New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils might argue there are many who claim the Edmonton Oilers are the greatest NHL franchise since the powerful Montreal Canadiens dynasty of the late 1970s came to an end. The Oilers were a force to be reckoned with in the 80s, boasting a roster that included Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson and Grant Fuhr. With that embarrassment of riches the Oilers won 5 Stanley Cups in 7 years, and set offensive NHL records that will likely never be broken.
With the departure of Gretzky and Messier the Oilers endured some lean years. They had a surprising run to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006, but other than that there hasn't been much to cheer about lately for Oilers fans. Today's Oilers give fans plenty of reason to be optimistic about the future, however. Due to a series of low finishes in the standings the Oilers have enjoyed high draft picks in recent years, including the first overall pick in the last two drafts. With those picks they snagged Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall, and those pair should be the cornerstone of the team that may very well be a Stanley Cup contender in the next few years.
Can the Oilers rise to prominence again like they did in the 80s? Time will tell. In the meantime cheer on your young, exciting Edmonton Oiler squad. Pick up an Edmonton Oilers snapback hat today.
