Though superstars like Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Denis Potvin and Billy Smith get much of the credit for the incredible success of the Islanders during the early 1980s, Clark Gillies also played a significant role in helping the club win 4 straight Stanley Cups. Gillies was far more than a protector for Trottier and Bossy, he could score as well. He surpassed 30 goals on six separate occasions during his career and finished with 319 goals and 697 points. Not bad for a so-called enforcer, and good enough to earn him a coveted spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
