More about Brad Marchand

One of the most loathed players in the NHL, Brad Marchand has established himself as one of those valuable players that everyone hates to play against, but would love to have on their team.

Marchand established himself early on in his career as a superpest, in the mold of players like Claude Lemieux, Ken Linseman and Esa Tikkanen. And, like those aforementioned players, Marchand has proven that he has plenty of offensive skill to go along with his offensive behavior.

Marchand has become a key cog on a powerful Bruins’ team that won the Stanley Cup in 2011, and looks poised to make a serious run again this year. He has been scoring at an impressive clip, playing alongside Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin, averaging a point per game. Not too shabby for a player primarily known as an agitator. At just 24 years of age Marchand is just entering the prime of his career, so look for him to get even better in years to come.

At 5’9″ tall and 183 lbs, he is far from the biggest player on the big, bad Bruins, but he certainly plays bigger than his size and fits in perfectly with their truculent style. Luckily for him he has players like Milan Lucic, Zdeno Chara and Shawn Thornton looking after him as he has certainly not endeared himself to his opponents – particularly the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens – and will no doubt be a target for the remainder of his career.
