Chris Neil is one of the most punishing hitters in the NHL, and Atlanta Thrasher Bryan Little gained first-hand knowledge of just how much of a wallop Chris Neil really packs. Little stayed down on the ice for a bit following this huge collision, but give him full marks for shaking it off relatively quickly. I'd be down on the ice for a week if I got hit like that. Ultimately it was Little and his Atlanta Thrashers teammates that had the last laugh as they went on to hand Ottawa a humbling 4-1 defeat. Watch the video footage of this massive hit below:

This huge hockey hit actually occurred a few days ago, but since I hadn't featured a hockey hit video here at Hockey Hermit yet I figured I'd throw it up. Brooks Orpik, known for throwing his weight around, rubs out Jason Spezza as Spezza tries to squeeze past him on the wing. Unfortunately for Spezza the point of impact happened right where the players bench ended and the glass stanchion began. Spezza kisses glass and then the ice.

The most refreshing thing about this video? Orpik wasn't forced to drop the mitts for throwing a clean hit. I like a good scrap as much as the next guy, but there has been an epidemic of fights resulting from clean hits. Its one thing if the guy who got hit wants to get a little revenge, but when the team tough guy steps in it crosses the line.
