Montreal Canadiens fans got some bad news today as the results of Chris Higgins MRI were made public. He suffered a shoulder injury in Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames and will be shelved for 4-6 weeks.

Doctors also confirmed that Mathieu Dandenault, who was injured in the same game, would be out 6-8 weeks after fracturing 3 bones in his left arm and had to have a steel plate inserted.

As devastating as those injuries are the biggest blow to the Canadiens will come if captain Saku Koivu misses any significant time after injuring his foot in last night’s 3-1 loss to the Lightning. The play on which the injury occurred looked fairly innocuous, but the Canadiens confirmed that Koivu will likely sit out Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals.

With the Canadiens on the limp forwards Guillaume Latendresse and Sergei Kostitsyn have been inserted back into the lineup. The Habs have also called up Ben Maxwell from the Hamilton Bulldogs.
