Though a player’s first game is obviously not going to be indicative of an entire career, there is something to be said for getting things started off right. Tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins John Tavares joined players like Islanders legend Mike Bossy and Penguins great Mario Lemieux by scoring in his first NHL game. As of this writing Tavares is on an 82 goal pace this season. Watch out Ovechkin, you’ve got some competition for the Rocket Richard Trophy this year! I’ll have the video of Tavare’s first NHL goal up later tonight.
