With last night’s ridiculous shootout goal against Switzerland Linus Omark really captured the attention of the hockey world. Omark skated in, faked the shot as he cut across the net, and calmly flipped the puck over the sprawled Swiss goalie as he cruised by. The move was similar to one of Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk’s signature moves, and though Omark might have some work to do if he wants to be known as the world class dangler Datsyuk is he is certainly putting some spectacular highlight goals on his resume. Among Omark’s other gems are a between the legs goal, and another cheeky play where he picked the puck up on his stick behind the net then flipped it off the goalie’s back and in the net.
Linus Omark currently plays for Lulea HF in the Swedish Elite League, and is property of the Edmonton Oilers who selected him in the 4th round in the 2007 NHL draft.
