Well, it didn’t take the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres long to ramp up the hate. The teams had a full line brawl (+1) including goalies. The chaos started following a scrap between Toronto’s Jamie Devane and Buffalo’s Corey Tropp. Buffalo’s hulking enforcer John Scott went after diminutive sniper Phil Kessel. Kessel didn’t drop his gloves but instead took a couple of lumberjack swings with his stick at Scott. Watching his teammate in trouble was apparently enough for David Clarkson to lose his mind. Toronto’s off-season acquisition jumped off the bench to come to Kessel’s aid – a move that may wind up in a 10 game suspensions.
After that a full line brawl ensued, with even goaltenders Jonathan Bernier and Ryan Miller getting in on the action. Bernier got the better of his older counterpart, but neither goalie looked the worse for wear following the scrap. The full video of the line brawl is below.
