Zach Parise Wild Jersey

One of the most talented young forwards in the game today, Zach Parise had, until very recently, played his entire NHL career with the team that drafted him: the New Jersey Devils. After seven seasons with the Devils, including the 2011-12 season when he captained the team, Parise became an unrestricted free agent. Though the Devils tried very hard to retain the services of their young star in the end the Minnesota Wild made him an offer he couldn't refuse, and he, along with friend and former Olympic teammate Ryan Suter, signed with the Wild in a massive $98 million deal that should see him in a Minnesota Wild jersey for the rest of his career.

Though $98 million is certainly a staggering amount of money, Wild management were willing to part with it in order to gain the services of the coveted free agent. In 502 career NHL games, Parise has put up 410 points, including 194 goals. Twice he has averaged better than a point per game over the course of a season, including in 2008-09 when he racked up career highs in goals (45) and points (94). Though his offensive production has dropped off a little since then at just 28 years of age he certainly has lots of mileage left in the tank.

Not only is he a prolific scorer, but he is also a born leader. Not only did he captain the Devils, but he was also an alternate captain on the 2010 men's ice hockey team that won silver in the Olympic Games in Vancouver. The Wild, recognizing his ability to inspire his teammates, have named him an alternate captain leading into the 2012-13 season.
