More About Martin Havlat San Jose Sharks Jerseys
It was a deal that no one saw coming: Martin Havlat moving from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Dany Heatley of the San Jose Sharks. Both players had high dollar contracts and both had failed to live up to the expectations that came along with their high salaries. Ultimately, a change of scenery might be just what the doctor ordered for both of these players, and it will be interesting to see in the end which team "won the deal".
Havlat was certainly far from terrible during his time in Minnesota. In two seasons there he managed a respectable 40 goals and 116 points in 151 games. Still, with a 6 year, $30 million deal comes a lot of responsibility and since Havlat isn't exactly known for his defensive game that meant he wasn't quite earning his $5 million/year paycheck.
Ironically, Havlat's health had little to do with his lack of production in his two years in Minnesota. In years past he'd suffered a multitude of injury problems and missing only 13 games in two seasons was pretty good by his standards.
Overall Havlat has been a consistent point producer, tallying 512 points in 621 career regular season games. His best year came in 2008-09 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, when he notched 77 points in 81 games. He not only puts points on the board but he does so in spectacular fashion. Many of Havlat's goals are of the highlight reel variety and his penchant for pulling fans out of their seats with his breathtaking rushes should make him a popular player with the Sharks. If he can find the chemistry with Joe Thornton that Dany Heatley couldn't look for the 30 year old Czech star to put up the best numbers of his career. If he can do that you can bet that Martin Havlat Sharks jerseys will be a hot seller come next season.
