Back to New Jersey Devils Jerseys
For the past 15 years the New Jersey Devils have been one of the most consistent forces in the NHL. Led by all time NHL wins and shutout leader Zach Parise has blossomed into one of the NHL's best players, but despite his efforts the Devils have been forced to rely on Martin Brodeur to shut the door in order to eke out tight 2-1 or 3-2 wins.
All that changed with the addition of Russian sniper Ilya Kovalchuk, acquired by trade from the Atlanta Thrashers. With the exception of countryman Alexander Ovechkin, Kovalchuk is the most dangerous sniper in the league, and he has tremendous speed, stickhandling ability and size to go along with his deadly shot. New Jersey Devils' fans will finally be treated to a little excitement with the addition of Kovalchuk, and this trade once again makes the Devils one of the legitimate favorites to capture the Stanley Cup this spring.
