Well, mark this one under the category Fights I'd Never Thought I'd See. Well, I guess I was wrong. Tonight, after rugged Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf laid out Dany Heatley with a questionable hit, Spezza surprised everyone in the rink by dropping the mitts and going after Phaneuf. Spezza threw a couple of wild punches then hung on for dear life. Though Spezza is certainly more valuable as a scorer than as a fighter you can bet he earned some huge points with both his teammates and his coach by coming to his linemate's aid.
