More about Evander Kane

A first round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers (4th overall) Evander Kane has blossomed into not only one of the best young power forwards in the game, but also one of its most controversial figures as well.

At just over six feet and 190 lbs, Evander Kane certainly doesn't appear, at least on paper, to be a physical force. However, pound for pound there are few more intimidating players in the league. He's not quite in the class of a player like Wendel Clark, but a few more years of seasoning might find him in the conversation with players of that caliber.

Kane not only excels at the physical part of the game, he has also go plenty of skill to go along with his belligerence. He was a goal scoring phenom in junior while playing for the Vancouver Giants, and while the goals didn't come easily early on in his career with the Thrashers, the move to Winnipeg has given him a fresh start that saw him light the lamp 30 times last season.

Despite some off-ice shenanigans that has seen him called out in the media Kane continues to deliver on the ice, where it counts. This season he is scoring at a near point a game clip, and his continued improvement is a big reason the Jets are currently sitting in a playoff spot. Look for Kane along with up and comer Mark Scheifle to be the cornerstones of the Winnipeg Jets franchise over the next decade.
