2012 New York Rangers Winter Classic Jersey
One of the Original Six franchises the New York Rangers are one of the most storied teams in the NHL. With such a hockey pedigree their first appearance in the NHL's annual Winter Classic Game is long overdue and the Blue Shirts will have legions of loyal fans when the puck drops on the game between them and the Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia Flyers on January 2nd.
With the off-season acquisition of coveted free agent superstar Brad Richards the Rangers improved their team immensely. However, even the most optimistic Rangers' fan probably wouldn't have predicted the team would be leading the Eastern Conference and be second overall in the NHL nearly halfway through the season.
Fiery coach John Tortorella has got his club firing on all cylinders. Henrik Lundqvist has been stellar even by his high standard, Marian Gaborik has remained healthy and his 22 goals to date have him tied for the league lead in that category, and captain Ryan Callahan has been an emotional leader and has chipped in with an impressive 28 points so far.
The Flyers are just two points behind the Rangers in the Eastern Conference race, and their battle for Eastern Conference supremacy should make the game between these rivals should make the game even more compelling for fans.
